I've had this shirt for a long while, and he's finally big enough to wear it. Got it in New York City from a street vendor and tucked it away in a drawer while he took his sweet time getting bigger.

Took CJ to a couple different parks during the November heat waves...

First park was near Hilary's old friend Jenny's place...they got along great!

He's getting pretty good at ladders...

He kept running about halfway up this slide and then losing his footing and tumbling back down. I would have felt bad about laughing at him, but he was laughing harder than we were.

Second park, this one pretty close to our house...for some reason, the playground equipment was COVERED in lady bugs. Sort of odd, but CJ got a kick out of it. Played in the leaves a bit, first...

Looking at a lady bug...you can almost see it in the full size shot. Dozens of them were crawling around.

Shockingly, he found some rocks to throw...

Parks really take it out of you.

GAME DAY highlights...
It looked like rain all day, and while it was unseasonably warm, there was a pretty steady drizzle at gametime that threatened to cancel the whole thing. Fortunately, despite a couple heavy rains early, the weather held and the game went on.

Got CJ his first baseball glove a few weeks ago. It's a little too big for him, so he can't really open or close it, but he can damn sure strike his best pitcher's pose (with a little help from his shadow).

He doesn't see the humor in me wearing his glove.

Took CJ to another O's game. Sat in the shade from the start this time!

Unfortunately, the little camera takes video but no sound, so it's not quite as much fun. You can see him say "hi!" and then he says "baseball!"

Near the end when he looks like he's concentrating really hard and then throws his hands in the air is the "CHARGE!" cheer, which is his favorite. He gets really intense when he hears it start and waits for his chance to yell! He takes it very seriously, as you can probably see.

Hopefully the video works...if not, just look at the pictures and imagine they're moving.

With Mommy away in the Big City and the boys left to their own devices, things quickly degenerated into golf, rock throwing, and crazy hats. This one's extra heavy on the CJ to balance things back out...

First ballgame of the year (or: musical chairs)

Figuring the pool wasn't enough for a two year old on one weekend, we took him to an O's game the next day. This one's a little light on the CJ pictures, too, but there's some decent baseball shots.

With temperatures approaching REALLY HOT, going outside may not have been the best course of action, but it worked out pretty well in the end. Well, Hilary will argue that point, but CJ and I had fun!

We ran into Stysley downtown, and started out with bleacher seats. Little known fact: the bleachers at Camden Yards are actually located ON THE SUN. It was a little bit warm, but we were having some fun...

Of course, LAST year, we lucked into tickets right behind third base. CJ wasn't used to the heat, and he wasn't used to being THIS far away from the action:

Luckily, the Orioles draw about as many fans as you'd expect a perennial last place team to draw, and there were lots of open seats on the other side of the stadium, in the shade...why not try to move there?

Ahhh..that's better. Still not as close to the action as he's used to, but definitely cooler, and a little closer than before...

I'm diggin' it!

The game itself wasn't exactly a pitcher's duel...there'd been about half a dozen homers by the middle innings, but the O's were managing to rally back every time they fell behind, so we were entertained. And look at those suckers, still sitting in the sun where we used to be...

The game continued on...

Then, as far as Hilary is concerned, disaster struck...the O's trailed by one heading into the bottom of the ninth (8 to 7), but scored on a sac fly to tie the game at 8 (and missed a walk off homer by about 10 feet). And then, after 9 innings in which somebody scored in every inning, suddenly nobody could score...and the game started to drag on...figuring they'd seen as much of the O's as they could stomach at one time, people started to leave.

It was right around then that CJ started to give me "Gee, Dad, don't you think we could be a little bit closer??" looks.

Hard to say no to that, and it worked so well the first time...why not give it a shot??

Unfortunately, as the 13th inning rolled around, things got out of hand pretty quickly for the O's.

After scoring just 8 runs through the first 12 innings (none in extra innings), the Angels put up 9 runs in the top of the 13th. Oops. The O's fizzled out in the bottom (I think the Angels struck out the side). Still, it was a good time.

With Pops off seeing the world, we thought we'd bring the monkey man down to see Grandma and hit up the pool. Spiky-haired coolness ensued.

Back at Grandma's house, we put on our jammies, played a little golf...

Gave Grandma a big hug and headed for home...

I think, just maybe, the pool wore him out a bit...

Howdy folks. Figured this would be a decent way to keep a steady stream of CJ pictures going out, instead of waiting months at a time and then sending a whole bunch at once. That'll probably still happen, but at least this way those that want to can stay a bit more up to date.

Also, there will probably be pictures here that have nothing to do with CJ. In fact, this first blog is sort of full of them...feel free to avert your eyes as necessary.

On with the photos...took CJ out to the ol' college for his first taste of pro football. It was pretty hot out and CJ was a little confused about why we wouldn't let him go out and play football with the Ravens, but he had a pretty good time.
